MerSAR conducted a surprise search exercise last night. Team members were alerted via our callout system without prior notice, arrived at the search area as soon as possible with multiple potential casualties missing in fog. Thanks to Chris, training officer, for a very good exercise practicing search techniques. Some probationary trainees who hope to become team members were also able to take part.
To maintain our many related skillsets we regularly practice communications, incident, radio and decision logging, and search planning under live conditions. MerSAR can run an entire missing person search to recognised international standards using in-house assets.
Management – qualified Search Planners formulate the incident response and operate the control function whilst highly-trained Team Leaders ensure search quality in the field.
