Frequently Asked Questions

On this page you will find answers to frequently asked questions, we receive lots of questions and queries and here is where you can find answers to our most popular ones!

Can I join the team?

We are not currently recruiting, please follow our Social Media on the links on the contact form at the bottom of this page to look out for our next recruitment drive. Providing you are over 18 you can submit an application to join the team at that time. We tend to have 2 recruitment drives per year.

Can you search for my dog?

Unfortunately we only search for high risk and vulnerable missing people. However, if you find yourself in a situation searching for your pet then please take care and wear the appropriate clothing and footwear. Please avoid putting yourself in any danger.

Can you share share my friends post who’s brother has been missing since last night?

Unfortunately we cannot share individual missing posts on Facebook, we are only required to share official Merseyside Police missing person posts, there are numerous reasons for this.

A disappearance should be reported immediately if the person is felt to be at risk or unsafe, you can call 101 to inform the Police or if you think they may be at serious risk of harm then call 999. If Merseyside Police create a post, we can then share or even better they may request our assistance.

How much commitment is needed to be in the team?

We tend to aim for a 75% attendance for training and 50% attendance for fundraising and events, of course we understand that people are busy and have other commitments such as work and family however to keep up with CPD and remain operational it is important not to miss too much.

Please consider carefully the impact on you, your families in both time and money and interruption to normal life. Emergency call outs never happen at a convenient time

Are you the same as Mountain Rescue?

We are very similar to Mountain Rescue however; Lowland Rescue Team’s are based across the UK in non-mountainous areas, the clue is in the Lowland Rescue strapline “From Hill to High Water”.

Mountain Rescue deal with similar incidents to ourselves however they have the added mountaineers that become stuck, stranded, lost or injured up a mountain and require professional teams with specialist mountain rescue equipment to rescue them, sometimes with the HM Coastguard Bristow Helicopter.

Where do you operate from?

We are based by kind permission at the Emergency Services Training Centre in Wallasey, here provides training across all types of emergency services, medical, trauma and industrial.

We cover the whole of Merseyside but also assist other Lowland Rescue Teams across the UK, and more frequently, Cheshire Search and Rescue

I have a drone, can I help/join?

The team currently do not support drones or have a drone team, this may be something we are looking into in the future however unfortunately at the moment we cannot take on that element of search.
